On Escapism
I have had a taste of reality a couple of times. It was when I blocked all the blockers themselves. When I decided to do nothing practically. Then... There was this stillness and silence even though I was in the middle of a relatively bustling public park. I get to realise that reality is a quiet place. It makes no sound. It is slow and in no hurry.
I always enjoyed it and I want to experience it frequently but I am surprised by the tendency of us humans to escape this silence and 'no rush' living. It is actually difficult to wrap one's head around the tendency of one's mind to get drunk, to listen to some song, to be in a loud place, to scroll and watch highly random, disconnected brain rotting content everyday or whenever possible just for the sake of escaping the reality.
More than the reality, I guess, our mind wants to run from its own self. Our minds create the thoughts that we dread, then it fears it. It, then, creates the urge to escape this uncomfortable state. It is a fight with oneself like those cat videos where a cat is scratching itself, gets attacked by its own leg, kicking itself repeatedly and then it jumps and runs away from its own leg.
